Hello friend, I’m Hannah and I can’t tell you how happy I am to have you here!

Are you tired?

Are you trying to live life well, but  finding yourself stressed out and feeling out of control?

Do you seek to be creative, but are overwhelmed by all of the noise surrounding you?

As a working woman, homemaker, and fellow creative, I hear you. I understand how easy it is to give in to the anxieties facing you day in and day out. But it doesn’t have to be that way.

My mission is to help women live simply and see the beauty in their day to day life. To see the possibilities, and instead of being overwhelmed, be inspired and empowered to live intentionally and create beauty.

I do this by focusing on four key areas of life: living simply, living creatively, living thoughtfully, and living faithfully. Through blog posts, weekly newsletters, and honest conversation in a community of like-minded women, we humbly explore these ideas and learn to be better stewards and creators each day.

Here at Seeing the Lovely you’ll see that I am continuing to learn more and more how I can live in a lovely and God honoring way, and that I am nowhere near perfect! My greatest hope is that you will be encouraged here and willing to walk with me in this journey.

And now for a little more about me…

Music has always been a part of my life, from the time that I was singing at the top of my lungs in my car seat to majoring in music at Geneva College. I am currently a piano teacher as well as Music Director at my local church. Both jobs give me plenty of room for creativity and I’m thrilled when I see others loving music as much as I do.

I live in Northern VA, land of dogwood trees and rolling fields, of sprawling suburbs and more traffic than almost anywhere in the US! It’s a fast pace of life, and it can be hard to slow down and smell the roses. Here are a few of my favorite ways to take a step back from the hustle and bustle:

1. Walk with my dear husband, Rob

Married almost a year now, Rob and I have been together since before college (and been friends even longer than that!). Rob is my best friend, and I truly don’t know what I would do without him. Walking or hiking has always been one of our favorite ways to see the outdoors and spend time together. I’m thankful for Rob’s photography skills and also how easily computer and technology things come to him (maybe it will rub off on me someday…) He is a fellow musician, and we take every chance we get to play piano and saxophone together. Which leads to my next favorite…

My senior recital; both terrifying and thrilling!

2. Play my piano

Whether it is with our church’s praise team or all by myself, I can always relax by playing the piano. There’s something about music that enables you to just let go (cue Frozen…), whenever I am stressed or upset I am guaranteed to feel better if I spend a little time with my piano.

3. Read a book

Of course, if a piano isn’t available, I’ve always got a book! I have been a bookworm since I learned to read, and yes, it really does irritate me when I get stuck somewhere with extra time and no book! I enjoy most genres, but if I’m going to the beach I’ll often grab a good old Agatha Christie.

So there’s a little peek into my life. Take a look around, I look forward to getting to know you better!
